On 29th and 30th May 2014 Yerevan State University hosted the two-day international conference “Migration in Globalized World”. The conference, organized by the Faculty of Sociology, was implemented within the framework of “Tempus UNIMIG” project.



 

On 24-29 June 2013 Study visit at the University of Oldenburg took place. The study visit was organized withing the framework of Tempus Project "Migration and Higher Education Building Skills and Capacity".  

Within the framework of TEMPUS project “Migration and Higher Education Building Skills and Capacity”, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University is hosting guest lecturers for one week (from 31st March till 4th of April) on the topic: Global Migration and Research Methods. 

Tbilisi. From 28th - 30th October 2013 the second training for staff of the Migration Competence Centres of the Tempus project UNIMIG - Migration and Higher Education - Building Skills and Capacities took place at Tbilisi State University, Georgia. Staff from all six partner universities an Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia participated in the event. The workshop was held jointly by Lisa Heschl from University of Graz and Clemens Juriga and Michaela Handke from WUS Austria.

Alicante. Delegations from six universities from Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan took part in a study visit to the University of Alicante from 25th-27th March 2013,within the framework of the project UNIMIG - Migration and Higher Education - Building Skills and Capacities.

The 1st training within the UNIMIG project "Migration and Higher Education - Building Skills and Capacities" provided by the KFU Graz to the staff of the three MCCs and one representative of each PCU was held 11th and 12th April 2013 at Tbilisi State University.

The training was aimed to provide the participants with a deeper understanding of organizational processes and the functioning of competence centers structured as University institutes. Furthermore, ideas have been developed on the development of future cooperation between the three MCCs and the other PCU within the Regional Research Network that is to be established in the upcoming months. Finally, the training was aimed to support the participants in the elaboration of concrete activities to be carried out in the future.

The delegation from KFU Graz, consisting of Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Wolfgang Benedek, Mag. Reinmar Nindler and Maga Lisa Heschl E.MA, presented and discussed on a broad variety of questions like “How to organize a competence center?”, “How to establish an online journal?”, "How to make the MCCs attractive partners in research, policy making and other partners?" and " How to establish functioning research networks?".

The National Training Session on “E-learning: Methodological, Pedagogical and Technological Issues” at Migration Competence Centre, Faculty of Sociology, Yerevan State University, Yerevan, Armenia has been held on November 5-9, 2012. The training objectives were to develope methodological, pedagogical and technological skills necessary for designing and implementing an online course. The training was led by Dr. Liberat Ntibashirakandi, the Pedagogical Advisor, Center for Educational Technology, Université Libre de Bruxelles) and Ms. Aida Sargsyan, the Head of Department of Computer Services and Automatization of Library, Yerevan State University. 
 

The main objective of the study visit was to provide the staff of the Migration Competence Centers (MCCs) that have been established under the framework of the TEMPUS-UNIMIG Project at three Universities in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, with the insight into the working methods of specialized competence centers being integral parts of an institution of higher education.

The 2nd  Curriculum Development Workshop within the project "Migration and Higher Education – Building Skills and Capacity" has taken place in Tbilisi State University from October 25th - 27th, 2012. The workshop was opened by Prof. Levan Aleksidze, TSU and Ms. Ilyana Derilova, the Chief of Mission, IOM Georgia. The curriculum development workshop was led by Dr. Lydia Potts and Ms Catharina Schmidt from the University of Oldenburg;  

On September 3th-7th a training was held on the subject of  "E-learning: methodological, pedagogical and technical issues"  at Khazar University, Baku, Azerbaijan.
